From the time I took my first wood shop class and learned how to turn wood I have been passionate about wood working.   Since then I have not stopped learning different techniques and applications.   Turning wood is my specialty…it is not only fun but rewarding as well.   A little bit of artistic expression is incorporated in each piece I turn.   Mother Nature does the rest.   Sometimes a piece of wood will have knot holes, spalting and such that make the piece much more interesting.  When the inclusion doesn’t provide enough interest I can enhance the beauty through a variety of techniques.    

I work with green, air and kiln dried woods.  Green wood is wood from a tree that has been recently cut down and has not dried out.    Air dried wood takes one year per inch of board thickness to dry.  Kiln dried wood is what you get at a lumber store with exception to some construction grade lumber.  I do not cut down trees just for turning.   I work with several arborists in my area and rescue  trees that they have cut down.  Occasionally, I have obtained wood from homeowners as well. 

I am a current member of the American Woodturners Association, had my work display in San Luis Obispo gallery and a retired Veteran.   Though I have worked in various areas of wood working, turning wood into a work of art is my passion.
